RodentKill Training & Certification

RodentKill specialises in investigating recurring rat problems, identifying hidden entry routes and assessing whether drainage defects may be contributing to rat activity.

The work is carried out by Richard Collings, with professional training covering the safe use of rodenticides and drain-based rat prevention.

Our approach focuses on understanding why rats are gaining access, rather than relying solely on repeated treatments without identifying the underlying route.

Professional Rodent Control Training

Effective rat control involves more than simply placing bait. Understanding rat behaviour, identifying entry routes and using rodenticides responsibly are important parts of a professional investigation.

Richard Collings has achieved the RSPH Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Rodenticides.

This qualification supports the safe and responsible use of professional rodenticides where their use forms part of an appropriate rat-control programme.

Drain-Based Rat Prevention Training

Recurring rat problems can sometimes involve underground drainage, particularly where damaged pipework, redundant connections or other defects provide potential routes out of the drainage system.

Richard has completed the NPTA Drain-Based Rat Prevention Course, covering the investigation of drainage-related rat problems and methods used to help prevent rats gaining access from drainage systems.

This specialist training complements RodentKill's CCTV drain investigation work and our focus on finding the reason rats keep returning.

Specialist Rat Investigation

RodentKill's approach is based on investigating the evidence before deciding what treatment or remedial work is appropriate.

Depending on the property and the pattern of rat activity, an investigation may involve:

  • Inspecting potential external and internal rat entry points
  • Investigating sub-floor and concealed access routes
  • Examining accessible underground drainage with CCTV equipment
  • Identifying damaged or redundant drainage connections
  • Considering whether drain defects could be related to rat activity inside the property
  • Locating relevant underground drainage features where appropriate
  • Recommending practical proofing, drainage repairs or other remedial action

Why Training Matters

Finding a damaged drain does not automatically prove that rats are using it to enter a property. Equally, repeatedly treating rats without identifying how they are getting inside may leave the underlying problem unresolved.

Professional training helps support an evidence-led approach. Drainage defects, building construction, rat activity and possible entry routes should be considered together before deciding what action is appropriate.

RodentKill combines pest-control knowledge with specialist investigation to help identify credible entry routes and recommend practical next steps based on the findings.
