About RodentKill

RodentKill is an independent specialist service led by Richard Collings. The business was developed to help property owners understand recurring rat activity that has not been resolved by baiting or trapping alone.

Removing the rats already inside a building is important. However, the problem can return when the original entry route remains open. Our work considers the infestation history, the property and, where relevant, the drainage system together.

Not every rat problem comes from a drain. Rats can also enter through damaged air bricks, gaps around services, wall cavities, roof defects and other structural openings. The purpose of an investigation is to follow the available evidence rather than assume the cause.

What RodentKill specialises in

Rat entry investigation

A wider property investigation for recurring or unexplained activity. We assess likely travel routes, accessible voids, structural openings and signs that may lead towards the source.

CCTV rat drain surveys

Specialist camera inspection of accessible drainage to look for displaced joints, fractures, redundant connections and other defects that may provide a route towards the property.

Proofing and repair advice

Clear recommendations based on the findings. These may include structural proofing, drainage repair, further investigation or a suitable rat blocker where the layout and evidence support its use.

Who carries out the investigation?

RodentKill is led by Richard Collings, a RodentKill technician and CCTV rat-drain surveyor. Richard carries out investigations with a practical focus on how rat behaviour, the building and the drainage layout fit together.

The equipment used includes a high-definition CCTV drain camera and electronic sonde locating where required. Relevant findings can be recorded, explained and used to help target the next stage of work.

Richard deals directly with customers, from the initial discussion through to the investigation and recommendations. This provides continuity and keeps the findings connected to the history of the problem.

How we approach recurring rat problems

Understand the history

We ask where activity has occurred, when it began, what has already been tried and whether the property has been altered.

Follow the evidence

Droppings, noises, runs, burrows, damaged materials and the pattern of sightings help guide the investigation.

Inspect likely routes

We assess relevant parts of the property and can inspect accessible drainage when the evidence suggests an underground route.

Explain the next step

Findings are explained clearly, with practical recommendations for proofing, repair, monitoring or further investigation.

Clear, evidence-based advice

A drainage defect is only relevant when it helps explain how rats may be travelling towards or entering the property. Likewise, a visible gap does not automatically prove that it is the active entry point.

RodentKill aims to distinguish likely routes from unrelated defects. Where the evidence is uncertain, we explain that honestly and recommend the most proportionate next step.

Repairs, proofing and rat-blocker installation are quoted separately unless they are expressly included in the agreed service.

Areas covered

RodentKill provides rat investigations and CCTV rat drain surveys across Ipswich, Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, London and surrounding areas.

Travel to other locations across southern and central England may be available depending on the survey requirements. Send your postcode and a brief description of the problem so we can confirm coverage.
